GSEC Statement on FY24 Film Numbers

"The film industry continues to send a clear sign that Georgia is an important destination for film and television production, reliably turning to our robust infrastructure, top-quality crew and  state’s stable tax incentive and, in turn, creating opportunities for Georgians around the state.

We’re seeing direct spending by the film industry reflect the industry’s adjustment to new norms. Industry strikes halted work in Georgia and everywhere else last year, yet productions still sent $2.6 billion flowing into Georgia’s economy. That fueled thousands of jobs and significant economic impact on businesses and communities across the state.

Like any industry, film contends with market realities. The fact that 273 productions came to Georgia in FY2024 —  when the industry was shut down for nearly six months —  is a strong indicator that film production continues to be a significant economic success story for the state.

Georgia’s turnkey operation for productions is the envy of other markets around the country — and the world. In just 15 years, Georgia has cemented its reputation as a globally recognized production hub, competing handily with traditional production hubs in Los Angeles and New York and beyond."

-Kelsey Moore, GSEC Executive Director
